Across Australia, communities are taking meaningful action to adapt to a changing climate. Join us for the debut screening of short films documenting community-led adaptation projects across NSW. From healing Country with fire practices to increasing resilience to heat, these films showcase the diverse outcomes of the NSW Government's Increasing Resilience to Climate Change Community Grants. The film screenings will be accompanied by a half-time panel discussion with the drivers behind the some of these incredible projects.

The world is facing two systemic existential risk, the solutions to which are closely linked: climate change and societal polarization. There is ample of evidence that resilience and disaster risk reduction is predicated on strong social ties or social cohesion. Strong social bonds in cities, in other words, are essential to preparing for climate futures. At the same time, bonding over the common threat of climate change is a unique opportunity to foster social cohesion and relationships between humans and ecologies.

Climate action begins with the smallest steps. This interactive event explores how micro-actions, when amplified, create a ripple effect for systemic change. Through storytelling, science, and humor, All Bits Count demystifies sustainability, inspiring attendees to take achievable actions in their daily lives. Participants will leave empowered with simple, impactful tools to reduce emissions, adapt to climate change, and engage their communities in the climate movement.

Underground spaces are the overlooked frontier in climate action. This session showcases how these spaces can mitigate climate risks, support sustainable mobility, reduce urban heat islands, and provide critical infrastructure for energy and water systems. With insights from global experts and innovative case studies, attendees will learn how to integrate subterranean solutions into urban planning and build resilience against the challenges of a changing climate.

As cities strive to lead on sustainability, greenwashing often lurks in urban narratives. This event dives into how spatial elements like architecture, public spaces, and transport systems are used as greenwashing tools and how we can spot and overcome them. Experts will share actionable strategies for creating authentic urban climate action and showcase success stories from cities transitioning to real sustainability. Attendees will leave with practical tools to drive genuine impact in urban spaces.

In this powerful film, Damon Gameau takes eight kids on the ultimate school excursion: a road trip across Europe to seek solutions to the climate crisis. The screening will be followed by an interactive workshop or performance featuring young people driving such solutions in a range of fields, to the wider benefit of our society and economy. Research shows that concern for the next generation is 12 times more powerful a motivator than any other driver.

Systemic embodied mapping offers a powerful way to engage with living systems in an interactive way. This approach allows us to step into dynamic, living systems to gain shared understanding, new perspectives, and insights. Whether exploring biodiversity loss, how we can adapt to rising sea levels or impacts of carbon emissions to human and non-human life, the aim is to shift the system toward greater health, flow and life-sustainment for the whole system.There is an opportunity for individuals, organizations or communities to bring an environmental challenge to be mapped.

Founded in 2013, Green Music Australia is a registered charity that works towards two intertwined goals: to decarbonise Australia's world-leading music industry by educating and supporting organisations in their transition towards sustainable practice; and to harness the cultural power of our influential music scene, by building a national network of climate-minded artists working in solidarity towards a greener, safer future. In 2024, we are kick-starting some grassroots community initiatives to start bridging the music community - both musicians and their fans - with the broader climate movement. This includes "climate cafe" style events in capital cities and key federal electorates, onsite activations at major music festivals including Laneway and Party in the Paddock, and partnerships with grassroots climate organisations connecting them to artists in their area. This is alongside the organisation's existing practice of In 2024, we’ve continued delivered training for music businesses, launched a new version of our Sound Country free sustainability resource for musicians and their teams, launched a brand new alliance to reduce the impact of recorded music products, and much more. Our small team packs a serious punch as one of Australia's most notable cultural climate non-profit charities. In 2025, we will be devoting time to engaging at a grassroots level to bridge the music community - musicians and their fans - with the broader climate movement. Proposed initiatives include: a series of 'climate cafe' style events in major cities and key electorates that educate attendees and form connection and community between them; onsite activations at major music festivals including Laneway Festival and tours (we have previously partnered with Billie Eilish, Jack Johnson & Lime Cordiale among others); other partnerships with grassroots-level climate groups looking to weave music into their actions. A particular focus is on products that recycle, reuse or reduce plastic waste getting into our ocean.
